Day 9: Prescott, AZ (6/20/08)

Today we went to Jerome with my Grandma. What a great town! We were glad to see so many local artisans making and selling their goods. We also went to the Ghost Town there and Doug a field day taking photos! There were old cars, farm stuff, and a very unusual man called Grandpa Don. And a funny little mule named Pedro Gonzales. He was a smart mule and knew that if he rang the bell around the fence with his mouth, he would get treats! Obviously the kids loved Pedro. There was an old schoolhouse, and old dentist office, lots of chickens and goats and other critters. It was just too flippin’ hot though. We all started to get a little too hot and tired so we decided to call it a day. We stopped at a Mexican restaurant in Prescott Valley called Olivas which was good ol’ fashioned Mexican food…cheesy and spicy and yummy! After we got back home to Grandma’s house, we relaxed in the A/C. Doug took a nap, and Jacob, Ruthie, Emma, and I went outside on the back patio and watched the golfers do their thing. Jacob apparently LOVES golf now! It was hot but breezy and very comfortable (it is a dry heat, after all!). Jacob had a lot of fun playing out there and Doug even took him out there after all of the golfers were gone. We were all pretty tired after a long, hot day so we called it a night.
